A First Time for Everything
I was elected Project Manager for Exposed Exhibition 2018, and submitted work as part of the degree show for the graphic design BFA. I was elected Project Manager by my peers and learned on the job to realise our groups mission. I held responsibilities including coordinating, scheduling, and organising for the event. This was in addition to executing the show brief with Pocket Papers, my project submission.
Management Style & Outcome
My approach to managing this project was to stay in close contact with the peer-elected sub-committee members and provide support for the web design, social media, venue, installation, publication, and finance teams. I was the liaison between teams and organised the collaborative effort for our graduating class in putting on this exhibition. A good leader knows when to follow and when to hold back, I took the lead in all functional tasks but put all choices on branding and such items that affect the group to a vote, then let the vote inform the final outcome. Our event was considered a success by the WSU marking standards and received additional high praise from attending area experts.
